OK, I fully accept that this might ruffle some feathers, but hear me out…

For quite a while I have struggled with the terminology “Joe-Bob got saved yesterday.” First and foremost, I struggle because, by my understanding, Joe-Bob got saved by the blood of Christ, same as you and me.  That did not happen today. That happened 2000+ years ago. In fact that was the day the WHOLE world got saved. (1 John 2:2).

When Jesus took the nails, He didn’t die just for the few who believed that day, and He doesn’t get crucified anew every time someone repents and turns toward their salvation. He took care of the saving for everyone who ever was and ever would be all at once. He didn’t die for a short list that you can add your name to if you do the right stuff. He died for EVERY single person. Your name is on the list. Your place at The Table is set and ready. You simply have to R.S.V.P. “Yes!”. Then, you can begin living in that reality.

So, it’s not so much that you get saved, but, rather, that you accept your saving. You agree with it.  Agree with your place at The Table. Ask the Lord to show you your place. What does it look like?  Are there candles, or flowers, or a name card? Who is sitting with you? What’s for dinner tonight?

Agree with your place and then let the Lord show you what it looks like to sit at His table. It’s the best place to be. It’s the place you were created for.

But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine…” Isaiah 43:1
